scarily easy sticky caramel apples

Spook-takular recipe to make with your little monsters. From pumpkin faces & spiders to vampires & witches…get your scare on!

ingredients

  • 7-10 apples with stems removed
  • Tinned Caramel - great to use when little monsters are involved.
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Chocolate sprinkles and or chopped nuts
  • Cake decorating pen/ Candy decorating pen

method

  • Wash the apples in boiling water for 30 seconds and wipe with a kitchen towel to remove any wax. This will ensure that the caramel sticks to them.
  • Use the lollipop sticks to pierce a hole into the apples (about ¾ of the way through).
  • Dip the apples into your caramel, twist in a circular motion to coat completely.

3,4,5. Depending on what spooky design you are going for, add any chocolate sprinkles or chopped nuts while it is sticky. Place onto a non-stick silicone baking mat (so its easy to clean up later!) and leave to set in the fridge.

additional tips

  • We used chocolate sprinkles and chocolate pens to create most of the faces.
  • Cocktail sticks are quite handy to move any odd sprinkles into of position.
  • For the spider, we pierced holes into the apple before dipping it into the caramel and used non-edible pipe cleaners. 
  • For a different look, why not dip some of your apples into white chocolate and create ghosts, ghouls and goblins…!!
